The East Texas Historical Association asked its former executive director, Dr. Archie P. McDonald, to recommend a list of the most interesting books about East Texas. Dr. McDonald, himself the author of more than 30 books on the history of Texas and the Civil War and Regent's Professor of History at Stephen F. Austin State University came up with the following list.
