 | Caddo Lake State Park, just outside of Marshall, commemorates the 75th Anniversary of its Grand Opening ceremony this July 4 with Texas Parks & Wildlife Staff and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) veterans. Originally opened July 4, 1934, CLSP was the first authorized CCC project for a Texas State Park, designated SP-1-T and started by CCC Company 889. Later work was completed by Company 857 under projects SP-27 and SP-40. The day's events will include the unearthing of the time capsule placed at the 60th Anniversary event in 1994, as well as gathering of items to place in a new time capsule to be opened at the 100th Anniversary in 2034. In addition, the park will host traveling exhibits depicting historical information about the Caddo Indians and the CCC. |
